UC Hastings College of the Law is pleased to announce the establishment of the Justice Marvin and Jane Baxter Endowment for Moot Court. The endowment honors California Supreme Court Justice Marvin R. Baxter ’66, who will retire on January 4, 2015, after a distinguished 24-year career on the Supreme Court and 32 consecutive years of public service.
Two deserving law students at UC Hastings College of the Law have received $10,000 Pfaff Trial Lawyer Scholarships from a generous alumnus.
For each of the next three years, some 25 members of the entering class will be awarded renewable scholarships from a new $1.25 million fund established by an alumnus.
Rick Fischer ’70 recently made a generous gift of $125,000 to create an endowed scholarship fund. The scholarship will help support a student who attended the University of San Francisco and who, after one year at UC Hastings, has placed in the top 10 percent of his or her class.

Chancellor & Dean Emeritus Mary Kay Kane has donated $169,000 in honor of John K. “Jack” Smith ‘54, one of the college’s most enthusiastic alumni and chair of the school’s Board of Directors while Kane was chancellor and dean.
